The quest for dominion led the pompous Mareanie all over the region, and today’s visit happened to be to Lake Lapras. It seemed logical to start with the aquatic areas first, and having already established a reputation at the seaside, the lake was as good a next step as any. With the clear sky giving the lake a beautiful blue surface, Diva just couldn’t wait to claim it as her domain.
[break][break]
The hardest part was always the beginning. She was rushing into a new neighbourhood full of Pokémon she’d never met before, and had to get them all to admire and/or fear her in the span of one afternoon. Her attitude was almost always met with resistance, but in the end she usually came out on top, even if she had to get a little violent… or plenty violent.
[break][break]
Her initial prance around the lake was a peaceful one. She’d talk to some Pokémon. Some would reply with a friendly greeting and the odd compliment on her necklace. Everything was looking hunky-dory until she’d encountered a pair of Wishiwashi at the edge of the lake. “Good afternoon! Beautiful day today, no? I’d say the sky today is about 70% as pretty as me, wouldn’t you agree?” Unlike the other Pokémon, the little fish didn’t so much as make a peep.
[break][break]
Shy Pokémon usually weren’t a problem with Diva. She usually just read it as being stunned by her beauty, so she offered a little “hair flip” with her tentacles and decided to carry on roving along the perimeter of the lake. It was just as she’d turned around when she heard a side remark from one of the Wishiwashi.
[break][break]
“Pretentious, much?”
[break][break]
Those mere two words were enough provocation to get the brutal star’s blood boiling and bring out the merciless bully in her.
[break][break]
“Say that again, I dare you!”
[break][break]
At this point her volume had practically doubled, and other Pokémon about the lake ceased their activities to see what was going on. Diva leapt into the lake and made her approach towards the Wishiwashi. It wasn’t a speedy approach. Mareanie crept ever closer, one hop at a time. The tension was so thick that the ripples caused by her splashes echoed with suspense in the shallows of the lake. Face to face with the pair of Wishiwashi she repeated herself.
[break][break]
“If you have anything to say to me, say it to my face, will ya?”
[break][break]
Before the offending Wishiwashi could even utter an “Uhmm”, he was forcefully grasped by one of Diva’s tentacles and flung right out of the water alongside his friend. To add insult to injury, the enraged Mareanie then took aim and proceeded to launch a gatling volley of her Poison Sting projectiles - glowing purple barbs that matched her skin - at the duo as they fell. The other Pokémon just watched in silence as they witnessed what was nothing less than pure injustice. Was nobody brave enough to intervene?
